We managed to get the ol’ man home this evening – how about that? The doctor popped her head round the door of his room this morning and said something along the lines of the fact that they’d try and get his pills sorted out, and had he got someone to come and collect him? As we were chatting together on a video call at the the time, we both chorused, “Yes!” In reality, the pills weren’t sorted until tea-time but finally, John called me at 6 o’clock to say he was nearly ready to come home. I grabbed a piece of toast and a cup of tea and then belted across to Birmingham to pick him up at 7 o’clock.
I think he is certainly relieved to be out of hospital, but he’s still not best, yet. Still accompanied by Puffing Billy, which I am putting down to the kidney function issue and the lack of exercise in the last ten days. Before John left the hospital, they made him an appointment to see the specialists in the renal clinic next Tuesday – so we may find out a bit more then.
As soon as he was home, he whipped his tight, white socks off, that they’d made him wear in hospital, ripped his wristband off and then sank into his armchair. Ah…. the comfort. I made him a cuppa and then we thought we’d browse the TV channels. There was nothing he fancied though, at that time, so I watched Matthew Bourne’s ballet, ‘The Red Shoes’, which I’d recorded at Christmas but not got around to watching. John rummaged in his kitbag and liberated his laptop so that he could play a bit of poker. He was keen – we’d had a delivery today of another poker book, so he was having a look to see what enlightenment it could bring to his game.
All else that has happened during the day seems to have paled into insignificance with John’s arrival home, so I won’t micro-report today. The only thing that was of real interest to us was that we took delivery of a new little chest of drawers this morning. I wasn’t sure whether it was quite right for the room and awaited John’s opinion when he got home, but he says he likes it, so there we are.
Although he’s home, we are not quite sure whether John is out of the woods yet, so all good vibes, best wishes and prayer are still very welcome.
On the COVID front, things continue to improve and good noises are being made about the effect of the vaccine that everyone is having. Let’s keep up the good work, folks.
- 5,455 people tested positive for the virus today
- 104 people died in the community with the virus in the last 24 hours
- 73 people died in hospitals with the virus on 27 & 28 February
- We’ve ploughed through Day 54 of Lockdown 3; Day 342 of Lockdown 1; and Day 350 of our self-imposed lockdown.
- There is light at the end of the tunnel, with a ‘roadmap’ having been published and establishments opening up, starting with schools next Monday, March 8th
And there’s spring in the air, of course. I had a thought I might like a bit of landscaping in the garden this year, so I enquired of a company today whether they’d be interested. Starting price? £17k. Hmm…….nearly fell off me perch with shock!!
Take care everyone. God bless.
So glad that John is now at home, sending him all best wishes, and lots of nice cosy relaxing times in the comfort of home sweet home
love to you both
